As I am now successfully added to the Indus Delta spam filters my comment is as below:

Well obviously not all employees are bad apples.

You have to remember though that they are paid to adhere to the New Deal contract and Provider Guidance enforcing the scheme; if staff don’t they are sacked. Simple.

This means that even with the great welfare to work staff showing respect etc., New Deal will always be a bad deal as it restricts your availability for employment (although that condition of JSA no longer applies when on New Deal) which means you are no longer available to apply for jobs as you would normally… sharing resources with an overcrowded noisy classroom is very off-putting.

What good is it ringing your potential future employer while someone in the background shouts “you f**king tw*t!” you can either pretend you didnt hear it, apologise to the employer or apologise and ask employer to hold while you either ask or tell them to STFU…. either way the employer has lost interest by then.

You wouldnt be able to do external job searches (registering with agencies etc., jobfairs and looking in shop windows) unless the provider allows it. This means the provider who wishes to shut early or staff having a/l in afternoon would send everyone out for external jobsearch to get rid of people with the participant not being able to organise themselves. Spontaneous and not planned. We assume that most providers are 9-5, if you have to get 2 buses like I did thats an hour each way… so leave at just before 8-ish to get the bus and getting home around 6pm time means all businesses are shut then.

You also have no guarantees that the letters and CV’s etc you hand in to your provider even gets posted or when they will be posted and whether they will send it second class even if you write 1st class on it and explain the deadline is approaching in 2 days.

Then you have the pointless courses such as CV writing (lets remember that everyone has been on gateway 2 week course if they are on the 13 week option stage – so should have an CV). Confidence building (building bridges from paper etc.). Push several balls floating on top of the water to the bottom with just one hand etc. no skills for a job at all.

Interview techniques and phone techniques etc. are very limited and the same stuff you do on gateway 2 work… for example, they are hand out based, maybe ask a few questions and thats normally it. Everyone should be getting mock interviews (off-site with someone you dont know – instead of trying to make up a role play situation with someone you know trying to do well at getting a job that you know nothing about (i.e. no job description, personal specification, job title, company info etc.)) and practical telephone calls.

I stick with my opinion on this matter. New Deal is a bad deal.

Nothing great but better than it going to waste.

I’m very disappointed with the bias shown on Indus Delta. Anyone who doesn’t like “w2w provision” due to bullying, incompetence or the sheer pointlessness of the schemes is automatically branded as an ungrateful, workshy sponger.

I’ve got a few telling comments in though, and can offer some advice. Don’t post under any name, or use any email address, that can link you to any anti-w2w websites, like this one (or claimantsactionsouthwales.blogspot.com) and don’t make it clear in your post which side of the desk you’re on. I make it deliberately open to interpretation whether I am a “scrounger” or disgruntled JCP employee…

    Have fun!

      Very true.

I have also noticed similar attitude on Watching A4e. Although they will expose much on a4e they stay away from real criticism of New Deal and Flexible New Deal. They are so different from my network and other sites; that watching a4e stopped linking back to other blogs. Links to Indus Delta exist though funny enough.

Indus Delta and Watching A4e were both not in favour of me publishing the New Deal contract for example; although £75 billion of taxpayers money was spent on the New Deal thus the General Public has a right for such information.

Indus Delta didn’t like the fact I had the FoI request via the post and published it on my own website instead of using WhatDoTheyKnow.com (which I wasn’t aware of until afterwards) website.
